Latest - Old Maidonians vs Desborough cricket match
In the penultimate week of term, our annual Alumni vs Students Cricket Match delivered a finish that nobody will forget!
For many years, this fixture brought together former students and current boys in a fantastic community event. Unfortunately, due to a number of external factors, the tradition came to an end. However, through a joint effort between the Old Maidonians and The Desborough School, we are keen to restart this special occasion and bring the Desborough community back together once again.
The aim is to create an enjoyable afternoon for alumni, current students, families, and supporters, celebrating the strong history and community spirit of Desborough through cricket.
The event will take place during the afternoon, with the aim of a 2:30pm start, and we expect it to last roughly three hours, weather dependent.
Golf Events
We run two golfing events each year: A match vs Desborough College held in the Easter holidays and the Brooks Cup individual open held during the summer holidays. The venue has always been Maidenhead Golf Club opposite the College on Shoppenhangers Road. Alas Maidenhead GC closed on 31.12.25, however the club moved to a new site, purchasing Mill Ride Golf Club in north Ascot and renaming it The Maidenhead Golf Club. OMADS golfing events will continue at this new venue.
Due to limited capacity during the merging of members of two clubs in the early months we had to miss out on a Spring match this year. Hopefully this fixture will be reinstated Spring 2027.
However the annual Brooks Cup open went ahead on Monday 27.7.26 at the new The Maidenhead GC venue. The course is a par 72 longer tougher challenge than the old Maidenhead GC. A big difference being the fearsome water features.

The book, entitled 'Bill Jay - This is where I came in', is now available from Amazon UK at £23.86. The diaries for 1956 and 1957 will be published in due course.
