Welcome to the website of the Old Maidonians and Desborough Society (OMADS), the new name of the Old Maidonians’ Association, formed in 1924, to reflect the fact that since 1973 the name of the School/College has been Desborough.

Whether you were a pupil or a staff member of Maidenhead Modern School (1894–1910), Maidenhead County Boys’ School (1910-1948), Maidenhead County Boys’ Grammar School (1948-1958), Maidenhead Grammar School (1958-1973), Desborough School (1973-2012) or Desborough College (since 2012), you are an Old Maidonian and eligible to be a member of the Old Maidonians and Desborough Society, affectionately known as the ‘Old Maids’.

The purpose of the Old Maidonians and Desborough Society is to provide a link with, and between, former pupils and staff of the College and to further the interests of the College and its past and present members.

The Society was founded in 1924 by the Headmaster, Arthur Brooks. The name was originally the “Old Maidonians’ (CBS) Association”, the letters CBS showing the link with the County Boys’ School.

The Society publishes a periodic newsletter with news of the College and of the Society and its members. It organises an Annual Dinner during March/April, principally for those who have left the College in recent years. Since 1976 annual golf matches have taken place. In addition the Society organises an annual golf competition for the Brooks Cup, open to its members, pupils and staff of the College. The silver trophy was donated by the late Eric Brooks (1915/21) who was an Oxford golf Blue and played for England. A cricket match is being revived.

While the majority of the members live in the UK others are spread across the world in Austria, Australia, Canada, Germany, the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the USA.
