OMADS 2026 Golf Report
52nd Competition for the Brooks Cup
Monday 27.7.26 at the new The Maidenhead GC venue
The course is a par 72 longer tougher challenge than the old Maidenhead GC. A big difference being the fearsome water features. We were blessed with a glorious blue sky dry sunny day. The temperature was more bearable than the peaks of this year’s unusual series of heat waves and no rain since mid May. (Was it as bad as 1976, for those of you that can remember that farv back?) The fairways were hard, brown and dry with watered greens, aprons and tee boxes. Some good shots were cruelly punished by rolling further than expected into hazards such as the many ponds.
Twelve players mustered to compete for the Brooks Cup Stableford individual open; all old boys and and staff. Alas my reliable, keen golfer, point of contact with the College was the Principal Mr Andy Murdoch but he has since left the College. So far I have been unable to find a member of staff willing to take on the golf liaison role. So this year no pupils or current staff competed.
